Frequently Asked Questions

Can I order by mail?
Yes, mail orders are gladly accepted.  Simply print our mail-in order form and send a check payable to Eye Mateys for the total amount.

Are Eye Mateys eye patches washable?
Eye Mateys patches are washable.  We recommend handwashing in cool water with a mild detergent.  Reshape and air dry, using a warm iron, if necessary to reshape when dry.

What eye coverage do I choose?
The stronger eye should be patched.  If your child's left eye is stronger, choose "left" for eye coverage.

What size patch should I order, regular or infant/toddler?
Most children who are undergoing patch treatment will fit the regular size patch--recommended ages are 3-12. Some children begin patching teatment as a young infant or toddler so we offer a smaller profile patch to better fit smaller glasses and faces.  Recommended ages for the infant/toddler patch are 0-2 years. If your 3-4 year old is very petite, this smaller patch may work well for them as well, just be sure to refer to the patch measurments and compare them to your child's glasses and face for proper fit.

What are the dimensions of Eye Matey's patches?

REGULAR SIZE:

INFANT/TODDLER SIZE:

Why are some patches only available in regular size and some in only infant/toddler size?
The size of each graphic determines its available sizes.  Some designs are too large to fit on infant/toddler patches--and some designs are to small to properly fill the space on a larger patch.

Do I need to specify an eye coverage on solid patches?
No. Solid patches can be worn on either eye, since it has no graphic.

Why do Eye Mateys patches have black lining?
Eye Mateys patches have a black inner lining to block the most light possible.  Some of our lighter color patches (i.e. baby pink) are double backed with white and then black, to block the most light, while keeping the color bright, as black lining can show through the light colored fabrics.
